Measuring Sediment Transport Capacity of Concentrated Flow with Erosion Feeding Method

چکیده
Sediment transport capacity in rills is an important parameter for erosion modeling on hillslopes. It difficult to measure, especially at gentle slopes with limited rill length. In this study, a special flume variable slope gradients upper and lower sections was implemented measure the sediment capacity. The section higher gradient generates faster water flow that could scout more feed rill. rest of set designated different runoff conditions. A series experiments were conducted silt-loam soil verify method. measured under 5°, 10°, 15°, 20°, 25° rate 2, 4, 8, 16 L min?1. values compared reference measurements from other similar materials setups. At high 25°, newly suggested method produced almost same values. Under low 5° maximum concentrations 8 m long uniform previous experiments, about 36% than new method, which insufficient make reach capacities followed trend as those slopes. can supply enough sediments ensure approach measurement and, therefore, provides feasible estimating conditions relatively

Sediment Transport in Unsteady Flow Conditions
Sediment transport under unsteady flow condition is studied experimentally. In the first step, sediment transport under different steady flow conditions was measured and an empirical equation was derived for its calculation. In the next step, two continuous and three stepwise hydrographs were generated in the flume, and their sediment transport rate was measured. The continuous hydrographs were...

متن کاملRill Erosion on Compost Blankets under Concentrated Flow Conditions
A flume study was conducted using a soil, yard waste compost, and an erosion control compost to investigate the response to concentrated flow and determine if the shear stress model could be used to describe the response. Yard waste compost (YWC) and the bare Cecil soil (CS) control responded to concentrated laboratory runoff similarly in rill formation, and the shear stress model was useful in...
متن کاملA review of erosion and sediment transport models
Information on sediment and nutrient export from catchments and about related erosive processes is required by catchment managers and decision-makers. Many models exist for the consideration of these processes. However, these models differ greatly in terms of their complexity, their inputs and requirements, the processes they represent and the manner in which these processes are represented, th...
متن کاملAn Improved Experimental Method for Simulating Erosion Processes by Concentrated Channel Flow
Rill erosion is an important process that occurs on hill slopes, including sloped farmland. Laboratory simulations have been vital to understanding rill erosion. Previous experiments obtained sediment yields using rills of various lengths to get the sedimentation process, which disrupted the continuity of the rill erosion process and was time-consuming. In this study, an improved experimental m...
